Investor Reporting Analyst

Position Description

MANDATE

The Investor Reporting Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and completeness of required reporting, remitting and reconciling for the investors through the use of the Company’s servicing system, database and reporting tools. Processes include, but are not limited to, loan sales, buybacks, service release, new investor set up, general ledger reconciling, custodial account reconciling, regulatory compliance, legal action, repurchase requests and investor management support. The individual will have good communication skills to be able to relay and present any reporting to internal and external stakeholders.



The Investor Reporting Analyst will have an expert working knowledge of MS Excel, Power BI, and SQL to re-shape data collection and analysis.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

Managing Daily Tasks:
  • Responsible for reporting and remitting on the company’s mortgage loan servicing portfolio to the investors, reconciling investor portfolios and custodial accounts.
  • Reviewing investor remittance for accuracy and timeliness and monitoring the ongoing reporting and remittance controls.
  • Works closely with the Manager, Mortgage Servicing and default department to ensure processes align with investor guidelines and loan mitigation activity is accurately reported.
  • Strong working knowledge of economic arrangements with investors with respect to servicing fees and renewal fees and ensuring the reporting, invoices, and remittances reflect the economics accurately.
  • Works with the Treasury and Capital Markets group to ensure proper set-up, sales, and release of loans to new customer on a timely basis.
  • Establish and maintain a close working relationship with the external investors, and internal stakeholders (including Finance, Treasury, Capital Markets, Mortgage Operations) to ensure all issues and concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Proactively work with external vendors for system enhancements.
  • Act as a SME and point of contact on Investor reporting and reconciliation.
  • Ability to understand and analyze the data/reporting presented to answer any questions as well as make necessary amendments as required.
Investor Reporting and Automation:
  • Identify and implement ways to automate recurring reports and gradually phase out the use of manual reports.
  • Proactively lead the development of custom reporting to satisfy investor specific requirements.
  • Generate and monitor automated reporting, adding controls and forms.
  • Develop and write accurate, efficient, but complex queries to extract and integrate data from multiple database sources.
  • Coordinate and monitor renewal reporting protocols for upcoming mortgage renewals with the mortgage retention team.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
  • Assist the Director, Mortgage Servicing to review and respond to all internal, external, investor and regulatory audit requests.
  • Review payment applications for compliance with investor and Company guidelines.
  • Expedite accurate and timely reporting and remittances for all investors.
  • Assist the Mortgage Servicing Department with audit requests for wire transfers to investors, ensuring adequate documentation, error free computations and accurate source information.
  • Work with the internal and external stakeholders to perform analysis and reviews on new reporting formats and or proposed changes to reporting requirements.
  • Interact with other departmental personnel to ensure new servicing/reporting requirements are in place and functioning as expected.
  • Assist the Director, Mortgage Servicing to maintain policies and procedures in accordance with Company and Investor Guidelines.
  • Regular QA check on all reporting to ensure accuracy and integrity of the data.
Production Reporting Support
  • Troubleshoot and facilitate solutions to reporting issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to others in areas of acquired expertise.
  • Serve as a liaison and collaborate with all internal stakeholders

Qualifications Required

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Commerce or a related field.
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training in an Investor Reporting mortgage servicing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of investor reporting and accounting, payment application and custodial accounts.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, and guidelines.
  • Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and investors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Expert MS Excel, PowerBI, SQL, VBA editing, etc.
